Vaccine Information and Policy

Vaccines play a vital role in keeping children healthy and preventing serious illness.
At Northpointe Pediatrics, we follow evidence based guidelines and the recommendations of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
We understand that parents have questions, and our providers are always happy to discuss the vaccine schedule and address any concerns you may have.
Why Vaccines Matter
• Vaccines protect children from severe, potentially fatal, preventable illnesses.
• Today’s vaccines are safer and more effective than ever.
• Following the recommended schedule helps keep your child and our community healthy.
• Delaying or refusing vaccines increases the risk of serious disease.
Our Approach to Vaccination
Our goal is to provide the safest care possible for every child. We base our guidance on decades of scientific research and national pediatric recommendations.
Because we want to protect our most vulnerable patients, we require families in our practice to follow the routine immunization schedule unless a medical exemption applies.

We welcome conversations and encourage families to ask questions so they feel fully informed and supported.

Northpointe Pediatric Vaccine Policy
To ensure a safe environment for all children in our care, we follow these policies:

• All patients receive vaccines according to the AAP recommended schedule unless there is a medical contraindication.
• We do not accept new families who choose not to vaccinate their children.
• Parents of newborns must begin the routine vaccine series by the four month well visit. If vaccines are not started by that time, families will need to transfer care to another pediatric provider.
• Children must complete their primary vaccine series by age two and all school required vaccines by age five.
• We do not recommend alternative vaccine schedules. If parents choose to space vaccines differently, our goal is to ensure children are fully vaccinated as soon as possible.
• Under immunized children may require special precautions, additional testing, or isolation during illness because they are more vulnerable to vaccine preventable diseases.

These policies help us maintain the safest possible environment for every child we serve.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can we follow an alternate vaccine schedule?
We do not offer alternate schedules because delaying vaccines increases the risk of serious illness. If parents choose to space vaccines differently, our goal is to complete the recommended series as quickly and safely as possible.
What if my child has a medical exemption?
Children with true medical contraindications can still receive care in our practice. Your provider will determine which vaccines are safe and create a plan that fits your child’s needs.

What if my child is behind on vaccines?
We can help create a catch up plan to bring your child up to date. Most children can safely and quickly catch up to the recommended schedule.

Why can’t you accept families who decline all vaccines?
Caring for unvaccinated children increases the risk of exposure for newborns, immunocompromised patients, and vulnerable children. To maintain a safe environment for all families, we require vaccination.
